Great Man Biography of Atal Bihari Bajpayee Former Prime Minister of India Shri Atal Bihari Bajpayee was born on 25 December 1924 in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh in a Brahmin family. His father's name was Shri Krishna Bihari Vajpayee and mother's name was Smt. Krishna Devi. Shri Krishna Bihari Vajpayee was a school master. His father was more interested in reciting poetry, inspired by which Atal ji started writing poems. Atal ji had seven brothers and sisters. Atal Bihari Vajpayee ji had resolved not to marry for life, although Atal ji had adopted two daughters of his female friend BN Kaul, Namita and Nandita.

Atal Bihari Vajpayee's Elementary Education

Atal Bihari Vajpayee received his early education from Government Higher Secondary School, Bara Gorkhi, Gwalior, after which he received from Victoria College (currently known as Laxmibai College). Atal ji obtained a master's degree in political science from Dayanand Anglo-Vedic College, Kanpur. After completing his studies, Atal Bihari Vajpayee ji started his career in the field of journalism, he edited the newspapers like Rashtra Dharma, Panchjanya and Veer Arjun.


Political Journey of Atal Bihari Bajpayee

Vajpayee ji started his political career with Arya Kumar Sabha, which is a unit of Arya Samaj, and in the year 1944, Atal ji was made general secretary of Arya Kumar Sabha. In the Quit India Movement in 1942, he had participated in the freedom struggle movement with big leaders, due to which he had to go to jail. 

During this movement, Atal ji met the founder of Jana Sangh, Shri Shyama Prasad Mookerjee. Under the leadership of Shyama Prasad Mukherjee, he got information about politics and started taking forward his ideas. Atal Bihari Bajpayee started his career with journalism, but after joining Jan Sangh in the year 1951, he left journalism and made a career in politics. After the death of Shri Mukherjee, Atalji became the head of the Bharatiya Jana Sangh.

Atal Bihari Bajpai was a skilled speaker and due to this skill, he made his place in the hearts of the people in the early days of politics, and in no time his popularity started increasing among the people. First of all, he contested a Lok Sabha by-election held in Lucknow, which he lost. In the second Lok Sabha elections held in 1957, he won and was elected MLA from Balrampur Lok Sabha seat.

Atal Bihari Vajpayee has been called a magician of words, he was the foreign minister in the Janata government in 1977. After this, Atal had addressed the world in Hindi several times on the international stage.

In the year 1994, the Congress government at the Center had made Atal ji the head of the delegation representing India in the United Nations Human Rights Commission, which for the first time was seen by surprise in the whole world. .

Bharat Ratna was announced to Atal ji on his birthday 25 December 2014. He is known as a brilliant orator, intense poet and a skilled politician. The President had reached his house by breaking the protocol to give Bharat Ratna award to Atal ji. On March 27, 2015, the then President Pranab Mukherjee visited his residence on Krishna Menon Marg to give him this honor, this was the first time that the President had himself reached his house to give Bharat Ratna to someone by breaking the protocol.

In addition to Bharat Ratna, Atal ji was awarded the Friends of Bangladesh Liberation War Award by the Government of Bangladesh in the year 2015, along with the Bhoj Mukt Vidyalaya of Madhya Pradesh in the year 2015 with the title of D Litt and in the same year he was given the title of Govind Vallabh Pant Award was also received.
